On the career front, Miss Simpson’s rep recently denied claims that Jess was lined up as a possible replacement on “American Idol” for Paula Abdul, telling press, “There’s no truth [to the story]. No one reached out to the show.”
And while “Idol” appears out of the question, the 29-year-old is currently set to star in her own VH1 series called “The Price of Beauty”.

Since she won’t be returning to “American Idol,” Paula Abdul may be taking her career in a totally different direction.
The 47-year-old says one of her post-“Idol” projects may include a talk show. Talking to TV Guide she said, “I definitely want to do a talk show because it would be different.”
Elaborating on the potential new show, Paula explains, “It would be a lot of fun variety with a ton of unexpected stuff and tributes to everyday people getting their big chance.”
Abdul - who recently filmed two episodes of Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva” and will host VH1’s “Divas Live” on Sept. 17 – says her post-“Idol” life “Has been incredible. I feel like I’m having the best time of my life right now.”
