Christian Bale talks about his infamous rant

61st Annual DGA Awards - Show

Remember this? Well, Christian Bale is talking about this little “misstep”, basically blaming everything on the trust he put in the sound guys (what?). He’s become really good at passing the buck - why can’t he just take responsibility, say he was an ass, and move on? Here’s what he had to say:

‘I mean, hey, I did what I did,’ the 35-year-old told Total Film magazine.
‘I’m not hiding that. I went overboard. But there is an essential trust and it’s not a tacit one, it’s a verbal one, a spoken one, which is every sound guy says “We are not only not recording, we are not even listening.”

I mean, hey, I did what I did. I’m not hiding that. I went overboard.
So, well, there goes that. I do stress though, it’s not in anyway a trust that’s there to cover up bad behaviour. It’s not about that.’
‘It’s an essential trust that’s needed for creativity because you’ll often try things and they’re abysmal, but if you have a trust there then you’ll give it a shot,’ he added.
‘Sometimes those things end up being wonderful and sometimes they’re embarrassing beyond belief but you’ve got to be able to try them and trust that it’s not going to be put out there and mocked.’
But he admitted: ‘I’m not making any excuses. I’m not whining. Hey listen, I did it an, it’s in public space. Hey, I take the consequences for it.’

Oh, well - I’ll still watch him,a nd so will you. I hope he apologized to the poor guys he was chewing out though!

Angie Harmon defends Miss California

Malibu Lumber Yard Grand Opening

At the opening of the Malibu Lumber Yard yesterday (wait. why is Angie Harmon at the opening of a LUMBER YARD? Has she really become that irrelevant?), Angie defended Miss California’s controversial remarks about gay marriage:

“If someone is standing up for how they feel and talking about their beliefs, why are we punishing her for that?” Harmon, 36, told Usmagazine.com Tuesday at the opening of the Malibu Lumber Yard in Calif. “I just don’t understand how we’ve gotten to a place in America where, if someone doesn’t agree with everyone, then they are punished for it.”

Said Harmon, “I heard something in the car on the way over here, and it was like, ‘She wasn’t punished,’ but she lost because of it. So she was punished.”
“I find it incredibly disappointing,” she went on. “I mean, that is what she thinks. That’s what she believes. I’m not going to punish anyone for that. I don’t know if she lost because of it, but if she did, I think that is very disappointing. In the Miss USA, she can’t stand up for what she thinks or what she believes in? I don’t understand that.”

Do YOU think she was punished? I’m all for respecting other people’s beliefs and opinions…except when they are stupid and narrow minded. I think she has the right to her opinion and was honest with her views, but we the public and in this case judges also have right to criticize her for her answer. What do you think?
